Dallas Stars President and CEO Brad Alberts suggests the current American Airlines Center shouldn't stand past 2031. The team plans to build a hockey-only arena and entertainment district at The Shops at Willow Bend mall site in Plano. Brad Alberts told The Dallas Morning News that having multiple arenas in the area would lead to competition for concerts and events. The Stars plan to break ground in 2028 to have the building ready for the 2031-32 NHL season. And this would be the first time the Stars play their home games outside of Dallas since the team relocated to Texas in 1993. But the Mavericks are also planning to build a basketball-only arena at the former Valley View Mall site. The area surrounding the AAC has evolved into an office hub and financial district with the Texas Stock Exchange, Goldman Sachs, and Bank of America having offices in the vicinity. So the AAC site could become something that fits the neighborhood better from a real estate perspective. Brad Alberts thinks something should replace the AAC, which will be the oldest arena in the area. The team's new arena will have a seating capacity and will feature state-of-the-art amenities. The Stars' move to Plano is expected to bring economic growth to the area. The team will start playing their home games in the new arena in 2031, marking a new era for the Dallas Stars. The exact address of the new arena will be 6121 W Park Blvd, Plano, TX 75093.
